Hugo has served as Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Minister of State for Northern Ireland, in addition to serving as the Member of Parliament for East Devon for eighteen years. Whilst in Opposition he served in a number of roles including Shadow Secretary of State for Culture Media, Sport and the Olympics. Appointed a Privy Counsellor (PC) in 2011 he was subsequently awarded a Knighthood (KCMG) for political and public service in 2016. He received a life peerage in 2022 and currently sits in the House of Lords.
Lord Swire is currently deputy Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), Independent Adviser to ARA Asset Management Limited and Chairman of the International Advisory Board of Brennan & Partners.
Over the years he has supported several different charities, raising millions of pounds as part of his philanthropic endeavours. He still plays a role in several charities, including The Seahorse Trust, the RNLI and The Attingham Trust. He is a former Chairman of the Conservative Middle East Council.
Prior to entering politics, Lord Swire was a Director of Sotheby’s UK and Head of Development at the National Gallery, where his responsibilities included establishing the private funding arm for Lord Rothschild and the Trustees.
Paul began his insurance career in 1993 and went on to become a placing broker with A J Gallagher (AJG) in their Package department in a “cradle to grave” role with producing, risk preparation and final placement for Public and Religious Entities in the USA. Having been recommended by senior Management, he made an internal move to the Financial Institutions division and rose to become an Associate Director, developing business emanating from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. After 12 years at AJG, Paul joined Price Forbes and Partners to focus on the emerging market space concentrating on Africa, Asia, Central America, Latin America and the Middle East as part of a new start-up team for Financial Lines.
Paul joined CBC in November 2019 and has maintained strong relationships across the globe, placing complex risks in some challenging territories. He was appointed Chief Executive of the International Division in April 2023.

Andrew’s longstanding experience in the City encompasses his role as Chief Executive of Nelson Hurst and Marsh Ltd, CEO and Chairman of Glencairn Ltd and of Andrew Wallas and Marsh Ltd. He was also Non-Executive Chairman of Martello Underwriting Ltd. Andrew is the author of “the game changing” book Business Alchemy: Exploring the inner unseen, dynamics of the business (LID Publishing Ltd.) and Intention (Octopus Publishing Group Ltd). Subsequently founding The School for Business Alchemy, Andrew offers training for senior executives in how to unblock potential and create borderless positive transformation of their business, along the principles set out in his pioneering work.

Having worked in the insurance industry since 1985, Rob’s roles prior to joining CBC in 2006 as Head of Professional liability, include that of Senior Partner at Glencairn Ltd with overall responsibility for Professional Risks and Board Director of specialist Lloyd’s brokers, Andrew Wallas and Marsh Ltd. Appointed to the CBC board in 2011, Rob was instrumental in formulating and implementing the management buy out of CBC and in 2015 he became Chief Executive. Seeing the advantages that employee ownership could bring for business growth, together with a strong belief in recognising and rewarding engaged and committed employees, it was Rob’s vision for CBC to become employee owned.

After starting his insurance career in 1998, Earl held senior positions at HSBC Insurance Brokers and Alexander Forbes, before going on to set up the London office for the Leeds based broker Bartlett & Co in 2008. Earl joined CBC in 2011 to form the Corporate Risks Division, now the largest division within the group. Over the years, he has built enduring relationships with underwriters at Lloyd’s and London market insurers and become a trusted adviser to many long-term clients. Highly regarded in the UK Liability market, he is known for his tenacity in delivering exceptional outcomes.

Lee began his insurance career in 1986 as an Office Junior at a London broker and quickly progressed to become Assistant Motor Manager. Four years later, he moved to Christchurch Insurance Brokers as a Motor Insurance Technician and when he left in 1998 he was Motor Manager responsible for a team of six. Having joined CBC in 1999 as a Motor Broker, Lee was soon promoted to Motor Manager and then to Assistant Director of the motor division. Taking a seat on the Board as Technical Director in 2019, Lee now heads up the Processing and Claim teams, as well as managing the Global IT system. A long-standing, highly responsive and versatile member of the team, Lee is relied upon across the organisation for his wide reaching knowledge and expertise.

Peter has over 30 years’ experience in the London insurance market, which he has supported with academic achievement by completing a Masters in Insurance and Risk Management (MSc) with distinction and obtaining fellowship status with the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII). Peter started his career in claims rising to Global Head of Claims of a medium sized broker, before moving to more strategic roles including Administration Officer and Chief Risk Officer. Having worked at medium-sized brokers going through constant transformation, Pete has amassed a broad range of experience and is an expert in change management. He works closely with the management team to ensure the group has robust systems and controls with efficient and innovative products and processes for clients.

Suneeta founded Padda Consulting in 2012 – established to support the insurance market achieve and maintain compliance with UK and international regulatory requirements. Having started her career at the Financial Conduct Authority in 2005 she has since undertaken and managed a wide range of regulatory engagements for numerous firms across the insurance sector, holding senior positions within a number of these firms, including: Head of Group Compliance and Risk at Howden Broking Group, Head of Compliance for Amlin UK, Interim Head of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs at XL Catlin and her most recent position as Interim Head of Compliance at Lloyd’s of London. Suneeta is a fellow Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers and a Freeman of the City of London. She is also a committee member of the independent Women in Insurance (iWIN).
Jon Newman is the Nominee Director and representative of B P Marsh & Partners Plc and joined the board of CBC UK Limited in August 2019.
Jon is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. In addition to being responsible for BP Marsh Groups’ finance function, Jon also serves as a Board Director for Walsingham Motor Insurance Limited and provides senior financial advice to all companies within the Group’s portfolio.
Jon graduated from the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Business Studies and joined BP Marsh in November 1999, following two years at Euler Trade Indemnity and two years at a Chartered Accountants. He was appointed a Director of B.P. Marsh & Company Limited in September 2001, and Group Finance Director in December 2003 and was instrumental in the admission of the Group to AIM in February 2006. He is a Member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants, the Chartered Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
Chris started his insurance career as a trainee Insurance Broker with Bennetts Insurance and enjoyed a rapid rise to National Group Sales and Development Manager. A subsequent role as Group Personal Lines Manager at the Layton Blackman Group, saw him grow the business three-fold and he was promoted to Director of Personal Lines. Having built a reputation for business change, Chris moved to Jelf Group where as Company Director, he was tasked with creating a blueprint to future proof the business. Inspired by this, Chris formed his own company – Symmetry – which grew into a focussed, high value Personal Lines business. In 2018 he sold to Stackhouse Poland and joined CBC as Chief Executive of the Art & Private Clients division in December 2021.
Justin Palmer entered the (re)insurance industry in 1995 and has always been a broker in the US Specialty marketplace. His first role was with RK Carvill, where he was placing the “bed-pan” US physician mutual reinsurance programs into the London, Bermudan, European and US marketplace. In 2005, he saw an opportunity to develop this book of business alongside a wider insurance portfolio by moving to Lloyd & Partners, part of JLT. The acquisition of JLT by Marsh presented another opportunity for Justin to move, and CBC UK Limited afforded the perfect independent platform that could best serve his client base. Having experienced all the market cycles during a 25-year period in a specialist area, Justin has a unique background with vast experience and long-standing industry relationships.

Mark Winston has worked in the Lloyd’s community for 38 years where, following periods with Aon, Willis and Heath Lambert, he became a founding partner and CEO of a new Lloyd’s broker, Paul Napier Ltd in 2000. Mark has specialised in providing insurance solutions in the Professional Indemnity and Directors’ and Officers’ arena throughout his career. He started building a Caribbean book in 1995 and the core of this account has remained with him ever since. More recently Mark worked with Besso prior to joining CBC with his team in 2021.

Anthony has been Head of Claims at CBC since May 2021. He is ACII qualified with over 17 years’ experience in the market. During this time, he has handled claims on various classes of business including Fine Art, Specie, Property, Cargo and Professional Indemnity for solicitors, surveyors, architects, engineers and accountancy firms across the globe. Anthony is passionate about the importance of an efficient claims broking team and was a guest speaker at the 2016 International Fine Art and Specie Conference. He works closely with clients to provide expert advice and guidance before, during and after the claims process.

Before joining CBC, Zakk worked at a casino as a poker dealer and then in finance for five years at Hood Group where he was responsible for preparing analysis for divisional heads, budgeting, cashflow forecasting, and managing the company bank accounts. Since Zakk joined CBC in June 2019, his role has evolved dramatically, and he is now the Company’s Management Accountant responsible for managing the finance team. This includes producing monthly accounts for management, forecasting and the completion of the Annual Budget.

Tom Allen started his insurance career in 1982 when he joined C.E. Heath Group as a Professional Liability Broker and developed a large wholesale book from all over the world. In 1999, he joined Howden as Business Development Director and soon after embarked on a global tour, winning significant business across the globe. In 2005, Tom set up the International Wholesale side of a new brokerage, Prime Professions, and built up a book of business worth £4M in annual brokerage. 2014 saw a return to the independent Wholesale space at Integro Insurance Brokers as a Managing Director. Tom joined CBC in 2022 with his team of four to move back into the independent space.
